Hepworth and District Womens Institute is in danger of closing this year. It needs new members in order to be sure it can carry on .
It would be very disappointing if our area lost another WI. Twenty years ago we had one in Coney Weston, one in Barningham and one in Hopton & Market Weston, all of which are gone. In other areas membership is growing as younger people find out that the WI is not about cooking and crafts alone.
It is first and foremost about learning about the world around us in a fun and friendly way. The monthly meetings give us speakers on all sorts of subjects plus the chance to socialise. On top of that are the events that are run for all the West Suffolk WIs which can range from scrabble and whist to climbing wall taster sessions, from soup and natter lunches to learning calligraphy or making a patchwork picture. There are opportunities to join a choir, take part in a show, enjoy an outing to London or get involved in a campaign to improve lives.
If you are interested come along to our meeting on 9th February at 7.30pm at Hepworth Pavilion.
or if you want more information ring me or look online at either the national federation web pages (https://www.thewi.org.uk) or follow that through to the West Suffolk pages.
