Barningham Church of England Voluntary School is a rural village primary school set in the beautiful countryside of Suffolk. It was established in the 1850s by the local rector and is at the heart of the village community. We have four classes teaching children aged from 4 to 11 years of age, and we introduced a nursery for 3 and 4 year olds in September 2024.
We are so proud of our school, the children, staff, governors and our local community because we pride ourselves in this school being the heart and soul of Barningham. We are proud of our Victorian heritage, and enjoy very close links with the villages surrounding us. Our children enjoy a creative and inspiring school day and we aim to create a school environment which is both positive and inclusive, where high expectations are standard, and every child is working to fulfil their dreams.
Our mission is to grow in faith, grow in our learning and grow our future world because we believe the children we serve will be the children of tomorrow creating a world that we are all proud to be in.
To reflect our mission, the school children have three councils: Faith Council, where our children lead services at our local church, St Andrew's; Learning Council, where our children promote awareness of the needs of others and fundraise for charities, and Future World Council, where our children lead activities to make our world a more sustainable place.
To enable us to succeed in our vision, we have three core values that move from the individual, to the school, and to the world: to be ambitious, to be kind, and to give.
We teach the Christian values through these overarching values to ensure all children reach their potential and are prepared to make a difference in the world. .
Our children celebrate the major Christian festivals at St Andrew's Church. The older children participate at the Act of Remembrance, and the children donate to the local food bank during our Harvest Festival service.
We have an active Friends of Barningham School who host regular fundraising events at the school, including Christmas and Summer Fayres that are open to local residents.
